Newsflash
Newsletter 15 - 15th January 2010
We have several children who regularly arrive at school after 9 o’clock. Here is a reminder of our school morning start times……
- 8.45am pupils are supervised on the playground, please drop off and go. This ensures more space outside the gate and will encourage more parents to drop off before 9.00am.
- 8.55am the bell rings.
- 9.00am the registers are taken.
- 9.05am children are marked late with an L (before the registers close).
- 9.05am onwards children are marked with a U (late after the registers close).
In our school we encourage our children to develop skills for life. Arriving at school before 8.55am allows pupils to chat to friends (on the playground), ‘sort their stuff’ and be in class ready for the start of lessons without being too harassed.
ALL lessons start promptly at 9am, pupils arriving even a few minutes late on a regular basis are missing vital lesson introductions and learning time.
Our registration system is computerised and parents receive annual attendance reports showing late marks and absences at the end of the school year. Regular lateness or absence also alerts our Education Welfare Officer who will make home visits if need be.
Please make every effort to have your child in the school playground before the bell rings at 8.55am.
Polite reminders!!
- Juice is only allowed in packed lunch boxes, to be drunk at lunchtime. Water only in classroom bottles please.
- No sweets in school. Cough sweets/throat lozenges must be given to the class teacher in the morning and will be given when needed.
- If you need to collect your child early from school for a medical appointment or any other valid reason, please give us advance warning via a note or ‘phone call.
