Finance

The financial report read that there was £7519.83 in the current account and £439.87 in the deposit account.

Matters Arising

Reports were received that the Bingo Night and the Christmas Shop were both exceptionally successful, raising over a thousand pounds between them. The Bags 2 School scheme raised over £75, a small electric oven has been sourced free of charge from St Christopher’s for the Friday Afternoon KS2 cookery group and a grant of £250 has been awarded by Councillor Bill Winlow towards the Garden Shed Fund. In addition to this, Lancashire County Council have matched the £3000 in a scheme towards raising monies for the KS2 Adventure Playground.

One of the KS2 Friday Afternoon groups is working on planning the Adventure Playground and designing the layout. Monies raised so far is a total of £6000 which has to be spent before the end of March. The committee feels that it is important that the present Y6 get an opportunity to enjoy the playground that they have spent so much time raising money for! The drainage situation does not affect the installation and can be done afterwards. The children have been encouraged to have a broader outlook on the whole set-up, such as a gazebo and/or a stage and there is also the possibility that the playground can be added to.

The cinema afternoon has been arranged for Sunday 31st January.

“Top to Toe” childrenswear sale will be on Tuesday 23rd March at 6.30pm.

This year’s Bog-Eyed Jog will be held on 6th May.

The Picnic and Proms event will take place at the end of June. Suggestions are welcome for an additional band and/or musical entertainment.

An event will be arranged for Easter on 26th March during the school day. Easter bonnets and decorated eggs will be judged by Fathers Timothy and Andrew subject to their availability and an Easter Egg Hunt will be organised by the PTA.  A Non-Uniform Day will finance the cost of the prizes.

Fund Raising

Claire and Sue have arranged for the film “Planet 51” to be shown at Lea Club on Sunday 31st January at 1.30pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult and the ticket price is £2.50 per seat. Refreshments will be provided in the form of Hot Dogs and a Tuck Shop. The Club has a licence so alcoholic drinks will also be available.

Asha has liaised with Top to Toe Children’s Clothing. This auction style sale will be held on Tuesday 23rd March with doors opening at 6.30pm. This is the ideal opportunity to purchase kid’s summer clothes for a fraction of their cost – no item exceeding £8 and all well-known makes such as Next, M&S, Disney and Mothercare. Entrance is free plus there will be tea/coffee available.

Liz will make some posters on behalf of the PTA to advertise and promote upcoming events for parents to see on the outside school notice board.

The next Bags 2 School day will be on 11th March.

Any Other Business

Debbie advised us that the Constitution of the PTFA needs to be reviewed as to the procedures and policies of the committee regarding the AGM, election of various officers etc. She will arrange a meeting with Liz and Alison to rearrange and rewrite it.

Mrs Bateman and Mrs Reay have requested monies from the PTFA to cover the purchase of waterproof clothing for a minimum of 12 children. This is considered to be an imperative buy so that the infants are able to access the outdoors as part of their curriculum. Prices are to be investigated.

Meeting closed at 8.20pm.

Next PTFA Meeting will be on Tuesday 9th March 2010 at 7pm at Lea Club.
