Newsletter 31 - 25th June 2010

OFSTED

As many of you are aware we had Ofsted inspectors in school last Wednesday and Thursday. Under the new inspection framework introduced in September 2009 the process is very rigorous and heavily evidence based. As I write this newsletter we await a draft copy of our report.

SIAS inspection

We also have a section 48 inspection, which looks at our values and ethos as a church school. This inspection was today, Friday 25th June.

When we get our final inspection reports a summary will be sent home with the children.

Puppet making workshop

Next Wednesday morning we have Dragons Mouth Theatre in school working with the children to make puppets and then present them in a puppet show. Each child will be making a puppet and will be able to bring the finished product home.

The PTA is paying towards the cost of the sessions and we please ask a voluntary contribution of £1.50 per first child and £1.00 for siblings.

The children in KS2 will be making puppets based on the Egyptians and our younger pupils’ toy themed puppets.

PTA Meeting

The next PTA meeting is next Wednesday afternoon (30th June) at 2.30pm in school, all welcome.

Moving on…..

On Monday 5th July our Year 6 pupils attend their high school for the day and all other pupils move into their new class for the morning. Children due to start school in September also come for a half day visit.

In September our class bases will be

  • YR/1 Mrs Bateman (28 pupils).
  • Y1/2 Mrs Reay. (30 pupils).
  • Y3 Mrs Williams (20 pupils).
  • Y4/5 Mrs Seagrave. (25 pupils).
  • Y5/6 Mrs Hurley. (25 pupils).

We have organised the classes in this way to ensure equality of numbers in KS2 and to ensure that the children receive the best possible learning experiences.

JOSEPH!

On Thursday 8th July our KS2 pupils will be presenting a child’s version of ‘Joseph’ at 2 pm and 6.30pm.

Tickets are free but limited initially to 2 per performance. Please complete the slip below to request your tickets and apply by Tuesday 6th July. Extra tickets will be distributed on Wednesday 7th July.
