Apologies: Claire Strickland, Joyce Greenall, Gill Mason and Beryl Robinson.
Minutes of the last meeting accepted.
Finance
This year’s Bog Eyed Jog raised £1632.38, the Film Afternoon in January made £42.07 and the Top to Toe Kidswear Sale raised £72.25 bringing the total amount in the current account to £2862.63. A further £250 will be deducted for the Dragon’s Mouth puppet workshop.
Debbie requested £120 for two water butts for the Gardening Club which was approved.
Carol quoted a cost of around £2000 for curtains as part of the Hall refurbishment plan.
The DJ being used for the End of Term disco will cost £75.
Matters Arising
The Proms and Picnic has been cancelled due to the field being out of action as part of the drainage installation.
The Bags to School project is to be changed to a different handler (possibly Save the Children) which will still enable the school to raise money through the weight of surplus clothing.
Liz Hird in her capacity as Chair will write to all new Reception parents in a recruitment drive for the PTFA. The letter will detail how we raise money and what it gets spent on plus an acknowledgement to those who have participated.
The End of Term Disco is to be held on Monday 18th July but with a new DJ.
Debbie requested a Cake Sale at the end of term on a similar scale to the Children In Need Sale last year.
Alison is investigating a new potential Christmas project in addition to the cards. A letter will also go out to all parents at the beginning of the School year explaining the procedure with ordering Christmas cards in an attempt to increase orders.
Fund Raising
The Cake Sale should take place on Friday 16th July at 2pm with all children being asked to bring in some cakes or buns and some money (in a named purse and small change) to buy them with.
The Christmas card project will run again this year and it is also planned to do a special Lea Endowed tea towel featuring the children’s artwork. The towels will be able to be ordered by parents and will also be for sale at the children’s Christmas fair.
The End of Term Disco will be held on Monday 19th July from 6pm to 8pm. The charge will be £2 per child but with a sibling charge of £1. The tuck shop will be in operation selling ice pops, fruit shoots etc but there will be free squash provided. Sue and Debbie will get the provisions.
Any Other Business
Mrs Middlemiss suggested that a next target for PTFA fund-raised monies was to possibly spruce up the Hall. She suggested new curtains, a projector system (for playing DVDs etc) and stage lighting. It was suggested that the PTFA could purchase the curtains now whilst we had a good price and the money in the bank.
Meeting closed at 3.10pm.
Next PTFA Meeting will be on Monday 27th September at 7pm at school.
